The vibrant spirit of Navratri came alive at St. Mary’s International School on the 30th of September 2025, as our little stars of Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2, celebrated the festival with joy, colour, and enthusiasm.
Children arrived dressed in bright ethnic attire, turning the classrooms into beautiful mosaics of colour and culture. The morning began with a prayer setting a peaceful and positive tone for the event. The children then listened to a simple and engaging story about the significance of Navratri leading into the festival of Dussehra ……victory of good over evil, helping them understand the values of courage, kindness and truth.
In the spirit of sustainability and creativity, the children crafted their own dandiyas using old newspapers. The celebration continued with a lively Garba and Dandiya dance session, where the children danced with infectious enthusiasm to the rhythmic beats with their peers and teachers guided by the dance masters filling the atmosphere with togetherness and happiness.
We were honoured by the gracious presence of our Director, Fr. Yohan Alphonso and the Supervisor, Ms. Sandra Fernandes whose warm interactions with the children added to the festive spirit. The celebration ended on a sweet note, with each child taking home a goodie sponsored by our parent volunteers, as a token of love and festivity.
With songs, dance, stories and craft, the Navratri celebration was a joyful experience that introduced our young global citizens to the values of unity, creativity and tradition.
A day of twirls, tunes, and tiny hands creating magic — Navratri at its most delightful!
