Field Trip : Byculla Zoo

Wild life Explorers!

Learning about animals and their habitats went beyond the textbook for the young explorers of St.Mary's International School. Our enthusiastic Marians of Grade 2 went on a little field trip to Jijamata Udyaan Zoo on Friday, 20th June 2025 to get a glimpse of the wild animals living in the zoo. It wasn't only about seeing animals in close proximity but understanding how they've adapted to the environment. The weather was perfect and so were the animals.

The children enjoyed walking alongside the trees and watching the little quirks of the sloth bear, the magnanimous tigers, the dainty spotted deer and the sleek leopard. They were amazed to see the gigantic aquatic birds and animals like the pelican, heron, crocodiles and alligators.  The colours and sounds of the exotic birds left them mesmerized.

The biggest treat was seeing the happy hippos and cheerful penguins. Along with the animals, they got to witness nature in full bloom with the lush green trees of the botanical gardens. Each tree had its own story filled with knowledge, to inspire them to learn more. The splash of rain in between, added to the fun of this learning experience at the zoo. The students got back to school with new memories and more knowledge about animals.
