On Friday, 10 th April, our first graders of St Mary’s International visited
the plant nursery at Byculla for an educational field trip. The visit
provided a wonderful opportunity for the students to explore nature
closely and learn beyond the classroom.
Our young explorers observed a wide variety of flowering plants such as
hibiscus, jasmine, bougainvillaea, and many more. They were excited to
see the vibrant colours and different shapes of the flowers and leaves.
They also explored various herbs and medicinal plants, learning about
their uses and importance.
One of the highlights of the visit was the touch-me-not plant, which
fascinated the students as they gently touched it and observed how its
leaves folded in response. Our curious adventurers used their senses to
touch, feel, and smell the plants, making the experience interactive and
enjoyable. They were thrilled to receive seed bombs and listened keenly
to the instructions on how to plant the seeds. They were also introduced
to different gardening tools.
Once they returned to the classroom, the students worked together in
groups to share their observations and discuss the different living things
they had encountered. They later illustrated their experiences,
showcasing both the plants and their learning.
The trip was a joyful and enriching experience. Our young explorers
returned with happy smiles, a deeper appreciation for nature, and
wonderful memories of their day.
